Stage 1: Yellowknife: Night fever

It’s been a long ride into the middle of nowhere: Yellowknife. It really has to have something special to make that long exhausting ride valuable. …and it has…

Lakes for everyone!

Wilderness until you get wild on your own!

…and the best open air disco lights (they missed the music…but hey)

You can easily get lost by viewing into the night-sky. I only wanted to spend about an hour to make some snapshots of this nightly event but realized when I nearly fall asleep, that I spent several hours out there. Close before the sun rose I drove to the harbor to try to catch the northern lights with the artificial harbor light. I liked it that much, that I spent quite some time just watching without taking any pictures…until the Aurora disappeared completely.

As I didn’t have too many plans for the next day, I slept in and walked later through the city. I only wanted to rent a kayak and paddle through the house-boat alley. There were dozens of kayaks! Dozens of house-boats! But no open rental-station. So, I used the time to have a closer view to the city on its own which I really like! If it isn’t that remote I would come back for sure!
